Can I just say that the white house is not nearly as impressive as they make it look on T.V.?... But...The capitol building...it's better...
And, of course, we cannot forget the Washington Memorial...These are the views from 500 ft. (or something) above the ground...Right towards the tip of the memorial...It was absolutely breathtaking!
The mall even had a carousel that Luke just had to ride...twice! It was cute!
Another great thing about D.C....all of the museums (well, except for, randomly, the Aquarium--which I guess isn't really a museum is it...so, yeah...)...all of the museums were free. And we went to as many as we could fit into our busy schedule...We went, as a family, to the Natural History Museum, the American History Museum, the Holocaust Museum, and, as just Mommy and Luke, the Air and Space Museum! All of them were AWESOME! But, we only got pictures at the Air and Space...
...and the Natural History--where we got to see an impressive (live) butterfly exhibit, and Dinosaurs, and big fish...and some really cool Crystals, which mommy was so fancinated with that she forgot to take pictures...I'm so bad with my camera sometimes...sigh...
While we were there, we stayed at three hotels...It was pretty cool. We were there for a total of six nights (Wednesday, March 11-Monday, March 16). Wednesday night we stayed at a hotel called, "Hotel George"...I loved it! The name made me laugh. Four of the nights (Thursday-Sunday) we stayed at the Capitol Hilton...We were like two blocks from the White House. The last night (Monday Night) we stayed in a hotel called Hotel Monaco...It was the coolest looking (architecturally, decoratively) hotel out of all of them...I just HAD to get pictures! Apparently it used to be the site of the "first public telegraph office in the united states". Pretty cool huh?!
