On a Lighter Note...

So...My mom and I have the same views of the "Twilight" vampire series...the books are depressing, poorly written, and just plain stupid...I honestly cannot (after reading them) understand everyone's obsession. The first one was good...until I read the other two and my whole opinion about the first one was changed. Anyway, so I'm going through all of my stuff--dividing it into all the piles--and I found these books...

The "Twilight" books are my sister's books...the Agatha Christie's are my mom's. I was talking to her the other day and told her that I was setting the books aside so that she could take them back to Utah when they come out for Jason's Graduation...She told me, very resolutely, that she didn't want her Agatha Christie's to touch the Vampire books...So Mom...just for you...

HAHAHA! Hey, I have to keep myself entertained somehow...

I guess I'll still be your friend even if you are anti-Twilight. Ha ha. It is a silly little obsession. One day though you're going to wake up after dreaming of Edward...or Jacob...holding you in their arms and whisking you through the forest...and you'll think, hey, maybe that story wasn't so bad! Ah teen romance. I honestly remember less of the book, and more of the obsessive chats with others and following the movie buzz. (See my latest post.) I might even have to send you the latest email about it!

I agree with Steph...I think it was more fun talking about the books than actually reading them. I enjoyed the books, but I think the last little while I am not the best critic of books. With being pregnant and then the twins I haven't been reading as much as I should or would like to. What is a really good book you have read recently that you would recommend? As for your move to NY I think it sounds so much fun. Only if it is temporary though. So tell Jason not to get too comfy. Moving is such a pain, I haven't even begun yet. Good luck!

Ok, Lacy, Here Goes It:

I started reading Agatha Christie when I was in middle school. I've not been able to put her writing away for much more than a month at a time since then. I own a huge collection of her works and at one time had them all in my own home. Now there may be a few at Papa Joe's house as well as the one's in your posession. Hopefully, none have been left at rest-stops, or gas stations, or amusement-parks I've had the pleasure of frequenting. There's no way for me to know for certain. I didn't keep a registry or anything.

Jane Austen was introduced to me about 20 years ago when, believe it or not, I was acquainted with one of those crazy women who actually read Pride and Prejudice every year just like Tom Hanks says on You've Got Mail. My interest in Dean Koontz is far more recent.

I can't come up with anything achingly brilliant enough to describe the true depth of my own obsession with Agatha, Jane, and yes, I must admit it, even Dean but once I've enjoyed their unique dialogue, and quirky characters, their artistically described settings, and even philosophical insights that flatline me, it's difficult to get beyond the first couple of sentences in Twilight. I did, however, read the first book and had a bit of a fascination for Edward. I just couldn't get past a sickening hatred for "what's-her-name" and a wonder at what Edward could possibly find appealing about her depressing personality.

I'll hardly mention how tedious I found Stephanie Meyer's (I think) style of writing, because I don't know if mine would be a significant improvement on it. I'd hope I could grind it in the dirt, though.

So I guess I just wanted you to have my feelings for Twilight in print, though I could go on for a coulple more pages. I also wanted your friend Teisha to possibly look to any of those authors for a good read.

(P.S. I must say that appreciation of any author is sort of an acquired thing and leaves the reader feeling disturbingly exposed to admit to it openly).

Lacy,
We have, like, 15 days till we get to see each other!!! YAY!!!!

Time's just a slippin' slippin' slippin', into the future. I didn't make it up. I've heard that somewhere before.

Lukie is 1.

I get to see my one year old grandson in 15 days. He'll be almost one year and one month by then, but not quite. I think he'll be about one year, three weeks, and two days, but who's counting?! (Uh, that would be grandma...)

Bless that Jason for all his hard work. We're always thinking of him, too. What a guy... But not Guy. (HaHa, sometimes I have to laugh at me. That's just so someone will.)

Love You All!

Mom, Grandma
