And the wheel keeps turning...

So...I'm sitting in my house, looking at all of the stuff that I have to pack in the next month, and I'm feeling more than overwhelmed...so I decided to post a blog...

Today we said goodbye to our really nice dinning room table, fancy couches and a coffee table. On Thursday, we say goodbye to our hutch and a decoration table...It kind of makes me sad to see it all go...I mean, after three years, you kind of grow attached to this stuff. I know it's just stuff, and we'll get more of it some day, but I do feel like the emptiness of the apartment has crept a little into my heart and, as I look around at our newly bare front room, I'm starting to feel sad about leaving our apartment--it has, after all, been our home for three years, and it was a good home...despite all my complaints about it...

Although the excitement for the new experiences that unavoidably await us in New York keeps poking through every now and then, I still feel slightly wary. After all, I've never seen a city bigger than LA (and I know, LA is bigger than some cities, but stil...New York City...Manhattan...), and LA was a culture-shock to me...What am I going to do when I see the unending tides of people and buildings? I think I might have a heart attack.

I've been watching CSI:NY, New Amsterdam, and Law and Order:SVU to kind of get an idea about New York. Let me give everyone a peice of advice...When you're going on a cruise, don't watch Titanic...When you're moving to New York city, don't watch a bunch of tv shows that focus on the crimes commited in that city...It doesn't help with the anxiety...Although, I did watch Maid in Manhattan the other night...and that was cute and light...

Well...Now that I have spilled a little of my nervousness and melancholy into these words, I guess I should get back to organizing my piles of c-r-a-p...("Need in NY"; "Would Like to Take to NY"; and "Leave Behind")...I hate moving...

I know how you feel. We are going through the same thing right now. Of course we have only lived here a year but we still have a lot of junk. Of course we are also only moving for three months so we are only taking what will fit in our car. It should be interesting. To bad you are leaving California just when I finally get out there. :)

Wow Lace...that doesn't sound fun at all. Although lately we've become nomads of sorts, constantly crashing at whichever family members house is closest to Jake's jobsite to assure not only spending less on gas but actually getting to see one another. What comes a long with that is living out of a suitcase which I officially detest... and I miss all our "stuff"
